Two months ‘on the run’ and thus far 4 people responded here. That’s a good thing. Paula and Ryan came looking for some old Blogger Templates. That is, of course, pretty okay too.
But, as I responded to Paula, All Things Must Pass. My Blogger Templates Domain was stolen, and (to be honest) to many people claimed (on many occasions literally) my time for support.
I was so disappointed (and pissed, in the end) … I cleaned my own domain (all images, all movies. all tutorials, all templates) and deleted my Blogger Blogs.
The Blogosphere is changing: even my (once) beloved Blogger Forum closed its gates because of spamming (read: all those suckers writing – and dreaming – about ‘Make Easy Money Online’, many times posting their unique views in hideous english).
Errr … the trouble is: I like blogs. So I started again, all fresh, with a new WordPress Blog (this site) and even a few Blogger Blogs (one for whatever reason and one for testing purposes).
But I am not going to reopen my Blogger Workshop. There are so many templates (free and neatly coded) for Blogger and WordPress and other engines out there … who needs my share, right? And, let’s be honest, they all look (more or less) the same: there are rules, there are layout limitations. There are!
(I know: one can write a few books on this last subject!)
Take this one! I like my gimmick – the big single post header images – but apart from that this layout is pretty common: a Left Content Area and a Right Sidebar (divided into single, and off and on multiple, boxes). Nothing new. But, I hope I worked out the Usability (user-centric design), so new visitors can easily find their way: that’s a (the) purpose!
Looking for templates? The Smashing Magazine (to name one) offers many many (links to) tutorials, showcases, templates, tools, Et cetera … .
It all started – for me – when I added a third column to some Blogger templates. I really don’t know why but everyone desperately needed a third column. Anyway, in the old days this layout was called: The Holy Grail. It’s true.
